No person, whether as owner, occupant, lessee, agent or any other person having charge or care of a lot or land within a residential, commercial, or industrial district of the City shall permit weeds and vegetation to grown on such land to a height greater than six inches (6″) and which constitutes a public nuisance, as determined by the City Manager or his designee.

Only one (1) notice per calendar year is required for a lot or parcel. If after a notice has been served in accordance with Section 1377.04 of this ordinance, the City Manager, or his designated agent, determines that a subsequent violation has occurred, the City may proceed with the remedy set forth without further notice.

Should any such weeds be found situated within a residential, commercial, or industrial district within the City, the City Manager may cause these to be cut at the expense of the City. Thereupon the expense of cutting will be billed to the property owner by regular mail, and upon his failure to reimburse the City this amount within ten (10) days thereafter, the City Law Director will collect the same by judicial process. Any judgment uncollected for ten (10) days after its date will be recorded in the records of the Clerk of the Common Pleas Court of Ashtabula County, Ohio, as a lien upon the lands of the property owner concerned

The flushing process may cause some temporary water discoloration. Running the cold water for several minutes should eliminate the problem. While it may be an inconvenience, it is necessary to keep our water system in good condition.

Residents are advised to check the flushing schedule each week in the newspaper or on the radio or television. Note when the Fire Department will be in your general area of town. Please do not do laundry when flushing is taking place in your area. Flushing does not have to take place on your immediate street to cause discoloration.

If you have any questions about the flushing schedule, please contact the water department at
593-7420 for assistance. Flushing will continue until mid-summer as we flush the entire system. We list affected areas on a weekly basis. Flushing will occur 7 days a week.

This former Finnish Meeting Hall was built in 1899 by Charles Gran and the Kilpi Temperance Society, comprised of Finnish immigrants. It became the heart of the Finnish community in Conneaut, as they gathered here for music, dance, theatre and fellowship. In 1975, a group of about 30 people in Conneaut had been discussing the need for a community center. The proposal to buy Kilpi Hall was presented to City Council, area businesses, and other interested parties, and was well received. Each member donated $10 each which became the first membership campaign. With a specialized loan, the Center’s officers signed a mortgage agreement in July of 1976 and the Conneaut Community Center for the Arts was born. Kilpi Hall is once again a place to gather for music, dance, theatre and fellowship.

The Center offers a versatile setting to host formal business meetings, weddings, anniversary parties, baby showers, club meetings or a family reunion. Let us help you plan your next event or meeting. The main hall gallery holds 80 to 100 people, meeting rooms hold up to 35 and a private meeting room holds up to 30. Our newly renovated main entrance greets our patrons with a warm, well-lit entryway and we serve wonderful meals from our newly remodeled kitchen facilities.

CCCA partners with several businesses throughout the county to bring artistic enrichment to the community.

The Reenactment is held on our beautiful Lake Erie beach at Conneaut Township Park. Hundreds of volunteers come to participate in this reenactment while thousands of vistors attend from all around the world. Learn more about our History by seeing it happen before your vary eyes.

The Normandy landings, codenamed Operation Neptune, were the landing operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy, in Operation Overlord, during World War II. The landings commenced on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 (D-Day), beginning at 6:30 AM British Double Summer Time (GMT+2). In planning, D-Day was the term used for the day of actual landing, which was dependent on final approval.

The landings were conducted in two phases: an airborne assault landing of 24,000 British, American, Canadian and Free French airborne troops shortly after midnight, and an amphibious landing of Allied infantry and armoured divisions on the coast of France starting at 6:30 AM. There were also decoy operations under the codenames Operation Glimmer and Operation Taxable to distract the German forces from the real landing areas.[4]

Supreme Commander of the Allied expeditionary forces was General Dwight Eisenhower while overall command of ground forces (21st Army Group) was given to General Bernard Montgomery. The operation, planned by a team under Lieutenant-General Frederick Morgan, was the largest amphibious invasion in world history and was executed by land, sea, and air elements under direct British command with over 160,000[5] troops landing on 6 June 1944. 195,700[6] Allied naval and merchant navy personnel in over 5,000[5] ships were involved.

The invasion required the transport of soldiers and material from the United Kingdom by troop-laden aircraft and ships, the assault landings, air support, naval interdiction of the English Channel and naval fire-support. The landings took place along a 50-mile (80 km) stretch of the Normandy coast divided into five sectors: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword.

The bus will stop anywhere along the route if requested.  Passengers requesting rides to Conneaut
from Ashtabula or Conneaut to Ashtabula can call the ACTS Operation Center at 440.992.4411 or 800.445.4140 for more information on availability.

There is a baseball field that plays host to several softball and baseball games in the area, a 1 mile paved track that can be used for exercising, a full jungle gym and swing area for children to play, as well as endless amounts of land to enjoy. It really is a gorgeous spot as occasionally you will be able to see some of the local wildlife wandering through the park as well as great places to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Malek Park is a beautiful local attraction that has been a part of the local Conneaut community for many years.
