OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER


Jim Hockjim picaday was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. A graduate of Bishop Watterson High School, Jim went on to Muskingum College
 to earn an undergraduate degree in political science. To earn his master’s degree, Jim attended Miami University in Oxford, 
Ohio. While at Miami University, Jim worked at the Center for Public Management and Regional Affairs. After earning his masters, Jim was encouraged by a mentor of his to take an opportunity with Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio as the Village Administrator. Jim assumed the Conneaut City Manager position in April of 2015 and with a strong focus on economic and community development, he has been striving to better this community ever sense. He was recognized in 2016 as Ashtabula County’s Young Economic Development Leader. Jim resides in Ashtabula County with his wife and two sons.

About the City Manager Position
The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to manage the day-to-day operations of the City. He/she coordinates, prepares, and disseminates information to assist the City Council decision making process.
The City Manager facilitates communication between the citizens and government and is the principal spokesperson for the city. He/she develops and implements administrative policies and guidelines in conjunction with the City Council and various City Boards and Commissions.

Duties
The City Manager exercises general and administrative supervision over all City departments, prepares and administers the City's annual budget, and advocates community development.
